Things are so busy at Penland. It is hard to find time to blog, shower or even make microwave popcorn. After a month of being here everyone starts to joke that they feel like they were born here. We get little bits of the news from text messages and brief looks at NYtimes.com, but for the most part we get stuck in our own bubbles.
I have been waking before the sun rises to get to my kitchen job. So far on my walk to work I have run into deer, a ton of stars, the late night shift on the wood kilns, and one hole. After my morning kitchen shift I make my way up to the printshop, which is absolutely incredible. Lots has been getting done, but more importantly I have been learning tons about the machines I am working on and the type I am working with.
I love it. My brain is crankin.
I miss my friends in Colorado, but look forward to seeing my friends out here on the eastern front.
This is my sketch of the month, soon to be a woodcut.
